The ultimate May half term itinerary in Jersey

The ultimate May half term itinerary in Jersey

21 May 2021

We're just a couple of weeks away from the first big week of the summer season, and we cannot wait to welcome families from the UK's green regions back to the Merton Hotel.

All the team have been busy preparing the hotel. The entertainment team have got a jam-packed schedule for guests of all ages. The Aquadome crew have been putting the final touches to our flumes, pools and Flowrider. And our new front of house recruits have been brushing up on their knowledge of what's on in Jersey during the May half term holiday.

To get you in the holiday mood, we thought we'd put together this handy guide to what you can get up to if you're lucky enough to be visiting Jersey and staying at the Merton this May half-term.

Make a splash in the Aquadome

Kids absolutely love it and adults find it hard to pretend they don't! The Aquadome is the home of splish, splosh splashingly good fun. We've got slides, flumes, a lazy river, fountains, pools and the Channel Island's only Flowrider.

Kids and parents love the Aquadomes pools, flumes and fountains

The Aquadome is a subtropical paradise. Whatever the weather, under the dome it's always a balmy 27 degrees. Perfect for parents who plan to relax on a lounger whilst the kids let off a little steam.

Talking of steam, did we mention our sauna and steam room have finally reopened? There's no better way to relax after a quick gym session.

Beach, beach, beach

The first week of June is officially the first week of summer, and although we can't predict the weather, we're confident you'll get plenty of time to visit Jersey's beautiful beaches.

Green Island Beach in all its summer glory

Some of our favourite beaches include:

  • Havre Des Pas
  • Green Island
  • St Ouen's Bay
  • Portelet
  • La Rocque
  • St Brelade's Bay

One of the best things about Jersey is you're never more than 15 minutes from a beautiful beach. If you're not planning on bringing or hiring a car during your visit, there are plenty of beaches within walking and busing distance of the Merton. Check out this article for the best beaches close to the Merton Hotel.

Take in a little of St Helier's history

The Merton is just a 15 minute walk from the centre of St Helier. Here you'll find plenty of museums and places of historical interest. St Helier has a rich and varied history. Plenty of different folks have laid claim to the island over the years.

The epic views from Elizabeth Castle

Some of the historical highlights include:

  • Elizabeth Castle
  • Jersey Museum
  • Maritime Museum

Our sister hotel was also at the heart of one of the island's most iconic historical moments. They recently wrote a handy article that details St Helier's Historical highlights in more detail than we cover here.

We hope this article helps to kickstart your May half-term itinerary. If you're staying with us over this period and want some more ideas of things to do, please just pop down to the reception where our front of house team can help.---
