Preparing to open for 2021

Preparing to Opening for 2021

23 March 2021

It’s official! The Merton Hotel will be reopening its doors for the 2021 season on the 1st April! We’re very excited to see our hotel full of smiling guests once again, but no one more so than Scott Hollywood who, from this year, has taken the post of General Manager of the Merton Hotel and Resort, a step up from his prior position of Resort Manager.

2020 was a year that no one could have predicted, and one that challenged our teams at the Merton on a whole new level. Although many of our bigger plans, particularly those in line with our 100 year celebrations of the Seymour Hotel Group, had to be put to one side, we were incredibly grateful to have an amazing few months in the height of the summer with our borders opening between July and October. Your feedback during this time was invaluable, and it was wonderful to hear that many of our guests visiting from overseas felt safe and a sense of normality during their stays with us.

Last year was my first as the Resort Manager of the Merton Hotel, and it was certainly a challenge navigating our new Covid environment! But having such a resilient team at the hotel meant we were still able to provide our guests with holidays full of happy memories. I’m delighted to announce that this year I will be overseeing the Merton Hotel as General Manager, with the position of Resort Manager being filled by the very charismatic Blake Albert, who some of you may know as a previous Deputy Manager of our sister hotel, The Pomme d’Or.

We will continue to place the utmost importance on our high standards of cleanliness and safety throughout 2021 and beyond, and will endeavour to apply all Government guidance to ensure our guests feel safe during their time with us. If you haven’t already, we suggest you familiarise yourself with our Safe Stay Pledge, to see what we are doing in the hotel to keep guests safe and happy.

Naturally, there are still measures in place and restrictions we need to abide to, and for these reasons our Entertainment calendar will be reduced until June in line with the Government road map strategy. Although things are running a little differently with our entertainment, good times are still guaranteed in the Star Room from 1st April! You can view our entertainment calendar here

And with the recent news that Jersey will be included in the common travel area, we're looking forward to welcoming back overseas guests from the 26th April! Jersey's traffic light system will resume for those travelling to the island, all information of which will be updated in due course on the Government website

Even though our operations over the coming months will look a little different, one thing is guaranteed - our guests can look forward to great service from a team that are excited and ready for your arrival!

Scott Hollywood,
Merton General Manager
