Meet the team
We're proud of our dedicated team who strive to offer the best service at all times, ensuring our guests have an enjoyable and memorable stay. Every member of staff is crucial to the smooth running of the hotel. There's not room to introduce them all here, but here are some key members of the team.
Luis de Oliveira
Luis has been Hotel Manager at the Pomme d'Or since 2002, providing a continuity and quality that ensures our guests experience the very best in comfort and service.
Born in Mozambique, Luis was raised and educated in South Africa. Having achieved his Hotel Management Diploma, he worked in some of South Africa's most beautiful resorts, and for Marriott Hotels in Florida, USA. But it was at the Pomme d'Or, one of Jersey’s most iconic landmarks, where he found his home. Luis enjoys working closely with his team, whose mixture of long service, loyalty and enthusiasm are testimony to the rewarding working environment he creates.
His passion is rugby, and you'll find him watching Jersey RFC play at weekends. He enjoys the variety of Jersey life - restaurants, marinas, beaches, heritage sites - but it's the friendly locals that make it so special.
Deputy General Manager
Born and raised in Johannesburg, Blake completed his Hotel Management Diploma and has worked for Crowne Plaza and the award-winning St Michael's Hotel in Cornwall, experience that makes him a valued addition to the Pomme team.
His favourite part of the job is making special moments happen - especially when under the most trying or difficult conditions. It could be for staff or guests, but for Blake nothing beats the satisfaction of making someone feel really happy.
He is particularly fond of cycling and kayaking - both great things to enjoy in Jersey. For visitors, Blake recommends discovering St Helier's lovely little shops and restaurants; enjoying the harbour-side restaurants in Gorey; and going to see the amazing lighthouse at La Corbière. But the best thing about Jersey? The people are so friendly and kind.
Front of House Manager
Stacey leads our Front of House team, working alongside a group of dedicated colleagues to provide our guests with the best experience possible.
Born in Edenvale on the outreaches of Johannesburg, Stacey grew up on the east coast of South Africa in a town called Empangeni. After living and working in hospitality in Scotland, her fondness for the ocean influenced a move to the island seven years ago.
Nothing makes Stacey happier than interacting with our guests and making the best of their holiday. High on her list of recommendations are exploring the historic castles around the island and a visit to Jersey War Tunnels. Of course, with her love of the sea, taking long walks alongside Jersey’s beautiful beaches and coastline is an absolute must!
Guest Services Supervisor
Joseph is our Head Concierge, providing our guests with a range of top-drawer services including making local recommendations and reservations; booking transportation; assisting with luggage; providing courier & parcel services; and organising travel arrangements & tours of local attractions.
Raised and educated in Kenya, Joseph attended one of the country's leading catering colleges before joining the 5 Star Norfolk Hotel in Nairobi. From there he came to Jersey in 2001. He enjoys walking the quiet country lanes and discovering Jersey's natural beauty and serene atmosphere.
For visitors, Joseph thinks Jersey's a winner because of the variety on offer for all generations, from Durrell Wildlife Park to historical sites to watersports.
Meetings and Events Manager
Buxton born and bred, our Meetings and Events Manager Paul comes from the heart of the Peak District in Derbyshire. He joined the team at the Pomme d’Or two and a half years ago, excited by the move to Jersey and to work within his first hotel.
Paul's event experience and knowledge has built up over the years through working at a variety of venues including a university, conference centre, indoor ski slope and a major museum in Manchester on behalf of Levy Restaurants.
His tip to visitors to Jersey, would be to spend the day on the beautiful beach of St Brelade, and to those feeling a little more adventurous, a walk up to Portelet common to take in the view of the whole bay.
