Meet Andrew Guilfoyle, Greenhills' new Restaurant Manager

Greenhills' restaurant is an intimate, beautifully appointed space where our team express their passion for locally sourced ingredients and deliciously designed dishes. Running this AA Rosette-awarded restaurant takes plenty of poise and experience; luckily for us, our new Restaurant Manager Andrew Guilfoyle has plenty of both. 

Originally from Lancashire, Andrew moved to the island in 2009 and has worked at some of the island's best loved restaurants. We caught up with Andrew over a cuppa and chatted about everything from growing up in Lancashire to his love of painting.

Hi Andrew, welcome to Greenhills. Where you were born, raised and educated?

Lancashire, England - born and raised. I actually studied Sport Science and Public Services. It was my sister to who got me into hospitality when I was 15.

Where else have you worked?

The Atlantic Hotel & Ocean Restaurant, and Mark Jordan at the beach - like Greenhills, they are both top quality establishments.

What’s your favourite part of your job?

I relish facing different challenges each day, and putting my stamp on service. It's a job where you have to get on well with people, and I really enjoy interacting with customers and staff. And organising functions that go that extra mile to make the customers delighted - that puts a smile on my face!

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I'm artistic so enjoy drawing and painting, as well as photography - I post my pictures to Instagram. I enjoy nature: Jersey is a beautiful place to go for walks. And, of course, spending time with loved ones.

What are you recommendations for visitors to Jersey and Greenhills? 

Jersey is an island with many hidden gems. You have to get out and explore the island to get a real feel of what it has to offer. We are also very spoilt with many top class restaurants and cafés who offer fresh local produce.

Greenhills is a great place to get away from the hustle of city life. Situated in the valley of St Peter, it's a tranquil, quiet environment where you can really relax. Here you can enjoy different types of cuisine, whether formal or informal: relaxed evenings by the pool when the sun is shining, afternoon tea in the courtyard or a nice glass of wine by the log fire. Greenhills is a place that has a lot to offer through the entire year.
