Fond family memories of Le Coie - 1991 and beyond

Irene Green's story

I have fond memories of visiting the island of Jersey when I was 23 in the seventies, so it seemed fitting to want to go back when I had my own family. We started going as a family in 1991, our little boy had never been on an aeroplane before! We spent many holidays at the Le Coie Hotel, it was a joy for many years. Over the years we built some great memories, including watching my little boy learn to swim in the pool. The food was always excellent, the bar staff were exceptional and the shows at night were fantastic. We loved our time spent in Jersey, from treating ourselves to shopping in De Gruchy's and enjoying a coffee break in St Helier's town centre, to dipping our toes in the sea at St Brelades Bay. I can still smell the sea and feel the sun on our faces.

We went to Le Coie every year until my son was 15 years old. He's now married with a little boy of his own! Last year, my husband and I managed one last trip to stay for four days at the Merton Hotel after his cancer diagnosis. We had a beautiful garden view room and enjoyed our stay there immensely. Unfortunately my dear husband passed away this year, but I so hope that one day I can return with my family and introduce baby Max to the Channel Islands.
