Get in the swim...and cycle...and run with Super League Triathlon!

21 Sep 2017

Whether you're a fitness fanatic or an armchair sportsman, its impossible not to be impressed by elite triathletes. Their ability to make a swim-cycle-run look like a walk in the park is unnerving for those of us who would struggle to complete just one leg of the Super League Triathlon, which takes place at St Helier's Elizabeth Marina this weekend.

Brownlee brothers

Jersey rarely plays host to truly world-class sporting events, so it's impossible to overstate the importance of the Super League's choice of Jersey as a key venue in the series. The world's top triathletes, including Britain's famous Brownlee brothers, will spend the weekend competing in a series of stages set against the backdrop of Elizabeth Castle and the Elizabeth Marina.

If you're visiting Jersey this weekend, then make sure you put some time in your diary to watch the displays of athletic prowess taking place just a short walk from the Pomme d'Or Hotel.

Local and world class athletes

Both the Saturday and Sunday begin with corporate relay events starting at 9:00am. The corporate events may not include world class athletes, but they offer a great opportunity for islanders to get involved in the day. All support will be hugely appreciated, so don't forget to give an encouraging cheer if you're passing by.

The world's elite athletes begin their competitions at 1:00pm, and will spend the afternoon competing to win the points they need to be crowned as the world's Super League triathletes.

Perfectly placed Pomme

As the Pomme is just a few minutes away from the competition arena, it serves as a great place to enjoy lunch and a drink before heading across the road to watch the afternoon's action unfold. The Café Bar is perfect for an informal bite on both the Saturday and Sunday, or, if you prefer something a little heartier, then a visit to the triathlon would be the perfect way to walk off an incredible Sunday carvery enjoyed in the Harbour Room restaurant.

We may not all be world class athletes, but we can all enjoy watching world class competition. Just remember to head to the Pomme for food and refreshment first!

If you'd like to enjoy a meal before visiting the triathlon, please head into the Café Bar at anytime, or you can reserve a table for the carvery by calling 01534 880110.
