We have a series of affordable ten week programmes aimed at all levels, from a beginner's first introduction to water through to adult tuition.

Cost

New starters may join at any time & pay for the remaining weeks of the term. Swimming lesson term: 1st April - 3rd June.

Parent and Toddler (-5yrs)

Aims of the programme

  1. Enter the water safely
  2. Be at ease with water showered from overhead
  3. Move into a stretched floating position using aids, equipment or support
  4. Regain an upright position from on the back
  5. Regain an upright position from on the front
  6. Blow bubbles a minimum of three times rhythmically with nose and mouth submerged
  7. Regain upright position from the back without support
  8. Regain an upright position from the front without support
  9. Perform a rotation from the front to the back to gain an upright position
  10. Perform a rotation from the back to the front to gain an upright position

Stage 1 (+5 years or completed Parent & Toddler)

  1. Enter the water safely
  2. Be at ease with water showered from overhead
  3. Move into a stretched floating position using aids, equipment or support
  4. Regain an upright position from on the back
  5. Regain an upright position from on the front
  6. Push and glide in a horizontal position to or from a wall
  7. Blow bubbles a minimum of three times rhythmically with nose and mouth submerged
  8. Regain upright position from the back without support
  9. Regain an upright position from the front without support
  10. Swim on the back for 5 metres
  11. Swim on the front for 5 metres
  12. Perform a rotation from the front to the back to gain an upright position
  13. Perform a rotation from the back to the front to gain an upright position
  14. Perform a tuck float

Stage 2

  1. Push and glide on the front with arms extended and log roll onto the back
  2. Push and glide on the back with arms extended and log roll onto the front
  3. Fully submerge to pick up an object
  4. Answer correctly three questions on the Water Safety Code
  5. Perform a tuck float for 10 seconds
  6. Kick 10 metres backstroke
  7. Kick 10 metres front crawl
  8. Kick 10 metres butterfly
  9. Kick 10 metres breaststroke
  10. Swim 10 metres on the front
  11. Swim 10 metres on the back
  12. Tread water for 30 seconds

Stage 3

  1. Perform a horizontal stationary scull on the back
  2. Perform a feet first sculling action for 5 metres whilst horizontal on the back
  3. Tread water for 60 seconds
  4. Perform three different shaped jumps into deep water
  5. Swim 18 metres backstroke
  6. Swim 18 metres front crawl face in the water
  7. Swim 18 metres breaststroke
  8. Demonstrate an action for getting help
  9. Perform a tuck float for 15 seconds
  10. Jump into the water swim to a raft and climb onto it
  11. Be rescued by catching a buoyant aid
  12. Be rescued by catching a rope

Personal Survival 1

  1. Enter deep water from the side of the pool by sliding in from a sitting position
  2. Tread water for 2 minutes
  3. Swim 25 metres to a floating object
  4. Take up and hold the H.E.L.P position for 5 minutes in deep water
  5. Swim 50 metres, retaining the floating object
  6. Climb out from deep water without using the steps or rail or any other assistance
  7. Answer three questions on when the skills learned might be used.
  8. Swim 200m, any stroke
  9. Swim 50m in long clothing
  10. Float on the back for 2 mins in long clothing
  11. Be able to remove clothing in deep water

Personal Survival 2

  1. Enter deep water using a straddle jump
  2. Tread water for two minutes with one arm out of the water (Raised hand to be above the head throughout, candidates may change arms twice throughout)
  3. Swim 25 metres to a floating object
  4. Take up and hold the H.E.L.P position for 6 minutes
  5. Using any floating object for support participate in a huddle for 2 minutes with at least two other similarly clothed swimmers who may be candidates
  6. Swim 100 metres, retaining a floating object
  7. Climb out from deep water without using steps or rail
  8. Answer three questions on when the skills learned might be used
  9. Swim 400m, any stroke
  10. Swim 100m in long clothing
  11. Be able to remove clothing in deep water
