Waterpump at Greenhills - 1983

Richard Hardy's story

In the early 1980s when I was a kid we used to go to Greenhills for Sunday lunch, which was always a real treat. In this picture I'm about 8 years old, and testing the old pump in the car park - is it still there today?

Nearly 40 years later I still love going to Greenhills. It's secluded location, tucked away down country lanes and nestled behind the beautiful gardens, makes it feel like you're escaping the real world for a few blissful hours.

We still go there on special occasions, the great food and friendly service are a real treat. My own son will soon be old enough for a Sunday lunch trip to Greenhills, and I can't wait to introduce him to this Jersey gem.
