Step into the past at Elizabeth Castle

26 Apr 2018

Jersey Heritage, in association with Lloyds Community Bank, are hosting a free open day at Elizabeth Castle on Saturday 28th April.

The castle will be welcoming visitors, on foot or by ferry, into the grounds where a series of new tours and activities will be taking place from 10am until 2pm.

From the Georgian defensive response to the French Revolution to the modifications made by Germans forces during the Occupation, the tours will delve into different parts of the fortification’s past. They will uncover the rich history, legendary tales and diverse architecture from in and outside the high walls.

Other activities on the day include the Master Gunman firing off the cannon, performances from dance group Bellissima, a spot of archery in the grounds and a chance to abseil down the castle walls!

Brunch before or lunch after

With a hunger for history and good food, the Pomme d'Or is perfectly placed for a bite to eat before or after a day out at the castle. From wonderfully filling breakfasts to lazy late lunches, the Cafe Bar offers a great selection of meals throughout the day and is located only a 10 minute walk away from the steps of Elizabeth castle.
