The hardest goodbye we've had to say!

The hardest goodbye we've had to say!

15 March 2019

In the hotel business we specialise in warm welcomes, but we're also used to saying goodbye. We say goodbye to guests every day, and each year we say goodbye to staff at the end of the season.

This Friday, after 21 years of loyal service, we'll be saying one of the hardest goodbyes we'll ever have to.

Longstanding General Manager and all-round Merton legend Michael McInerney is hanging up his waistcoat for the final time and taking a well-earned leap into retirement.

Michael has managed the Merton since 1997, greeting thousands of happy families and nurturing hundreds of aspiring hospitality professionals during his time with Seymour Hotels. On Friday evening, we'll be celebrating his illustrious career and toasting his good health.

From all of us at The Merton, thank you Michael! It's been an absolute pleasure working with you. You will be missed.

Waiting in the wings

Taking over from Michael is one of Seymour Hotels' most talented team members. Luis de Oliveria, formerly General Manager at our sister hotel The Pomme, is making the leap from city chic to family fun and joining us here at The Merton.

Luis' dedication to providing our guests with unforgettable holiday experiences means he'll fit right in and ensure the Merton continues to be Jersey's resort hotel that has it all!

Welcome to the Merton Luis!
