Meet our new Front of House Manager - Amy Dolan

Meet our new Front of House Manager - Amy Dolan

15 November 2018

The Merton has always been renowned for friendly welcomes and fantastic holidays. Our front of house team are the ones responsible for making sure the welcome you receive sets you up to enjoy the rest of your holiday.

Amy Dolan, our new Front of House Manger knows a thing of two about welcoming guests. Before joining our team, Amy spent six years perfecting the art of the welcome under the Marriott brand in her home town of Manchester. After a brief relocation to the New Forest, Amy hopped the channel a month ago to take on a new role with us.

Amy is a real people person and the following interview provided plenty of laughs for all the team. If you'd like to get to know Amy a little better, just keep reading.

Hi Amy, give the readers a bit of background, where were you born, raised and educated?

Born & raised in the red side of Manchester…studied at ‘The Northern School of Contemporary Dance’, which is a conservatoire for dance in Leeds.

Where have you worked before the Merton?

I spent 6 years working under the Marriott brand at Manchester Airport Marriott & The Manchester Marriott Victoria & Albert. Whilst there I progressed from receptionist to Front Office Manager. I then relocated down south to the New Forest to a smaller independent chain ‘New Forest hotels’ to take on another Front of House Manager role.

How long since you made the move to Jersey?

Just a month!

What’s your favourite part of your job?

Interacting with and getting to know/meet so many different people from different places. I thrive off ‘expecting the unexpected’…no two days are ever the same in the hospitality world!

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I run a lot. I’m going to attempt a marathon next year! I’m a massive foodie so I LOVE to try new places and experience new foods & wines. I’m looking to complete the WSET level 1 course next year so I can get a better understanding of pairing wine with food.

What are you recommendations for visitors to Jersey and the Merton?

Take a trip to Plemont beach – the most beautiful beach on the island in my view!
