Celebrate the Royal Wedding at the Merton Hotel

Celebrate the Royal Wedding at the Merton Hotel

16 May 2018

There are very few occasions where all corners and islands of Britain join together in celebration. Historical cultural moments and international sporting events (fingers crossed to England's footballers this summer!) with the scale and momentum to catch the country’s collective imagination and joy are few and far between.

However, a Royal Wedding has the grandeur, elegance and jubilation to make the country stop and take notice, and this weekend sees the greatly anticipated marriage of Prince Henry of Wales to Meghan Markle of California, at Windsor Castle.

Pomp, ceremony & cream teas

This Saturday the Merton Hotel will be marking the day with balloons, bunting and a special screening of the live coverage from Windsor.

Join us from 9am in our newly refurbished Lobby Bar to watch the events unfold. And on days like these, a little indulgence seems appropriate, so why not treat yourself to a morning cream tea? Our freshly baked fruit scone with Jersey cream and strawberry jam is sure to get you feeling patriotic as the wedding party make their way to the castle.

At noon the main event will begin, and with it the hymns, readings, emotions, vows and kiss that the nation has been waiting for. Once the hour long ceremony concludes, the newlyweds will take a carriage ride through Windsor and show their appreciation to the crowds lining the streets.

If the festivities tire you out, then stay a little longer and enjoy a light lunch in the garden while you reminisce about the beautiful events of the day.

A toast to Mr & Mrs Windsor

No booking is required but to be sure of a good spot it would be wise to make your way to the Merton early. Teas, Coffees and Jersey Cream Teas are all available from 9am until 5:30pm, with lunch served from 12:30pm.
