Best of our 2020 Entertainment

Best of our 2020 Entertainment

14 December 2020

Queen famously sang ‘The Show Must Go On’ and for our hotel guests it certainly did during our 2020 season at the Merton Hotel.

As holidaymakers and staycationers enjoyed our nights of entertainment in the Star Room, they would have certainly noticed that things were a bit different to normal. After a summer of physical distancing, hand sanitizing and track and tracing, we still managed to create memories and fun for our guests of all ages with lots of chair dancing, finger clicking, hand clapping and waving along.

One of the biggest highlights for some of our younger guests will certainly be the visit from Paw Patrol’s Chase and Marshall. The official Nickelodeon TV stars took to the stage for an exciting story-time and met the children for a memory-making meet and greet photo opportunity, even the grown-ups were trying to get selfies!

Look out for more visits from the biggest Kids Character stars in 2021!

Our own Character Superstars Maxx and Madison made regular appearances in the Star Room as did our Kids Zone crew in Kids Zone Live! – our very own children’s entertainment feature. We had some new party dance routines which the kids loved and some new fun games too!

We had to make lots of changes to our schedule throughout the year as the rules, guidance and restrictions changed, but our entertainers were always ready to put on a show. As theatres closed in London and New York, our fabulous cast of ‘Theatreland Showstoppers’ kept the music alive by performing hit songs from shows such as Wicked, Rent, Shrek and Les Miserables.

Jersey’s best performers graced our stage night after night while adhering to our ‘perform safer’ guidelines which kept them and our audiences safe. From the ‘The Genuine Jerseys’ (four lads from here in Jersey!) , performing the music of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, to tributes to ABBA and the Blues Brothers, we had the performance of classic popular songs that spanned decades.

With magic from Royston South and Everafter productions, comedy from Scott Miller, and a poptastic party from Cool Britannia, we were very proud to be able to deliver feelgood entertainment experiences for our valued guests.

We want to thank everyone that stayed with us, swayed with us, clapped along with us, and smiled with us. We want to say thank you to our performers and artists who delivered productions in extraordinary circumstances. And we look forward to making next year more show-stopping than ever! See you in 2021!
