A Delicious Night with Poldark’s Robin Ellis

Renown for his title role as Ross Poldark in the original 1970s BBC series, Robin Ellis will be delighting fans and foodies alike at the Merton Hotel as he visits Jersey on the 11th and 12th of October.

For two nights Robin with be showcasing a selection of new dishes from his latest bestselling cookbook ‘Mediterranean Cooking for Diabetics,’ preparing healthy flavoursome food live on stage whilst chatting with BBC news journalist Robert Hall about his acting career, food writing and love of cookery.

The healthy fight against diabetes

A few years after taking residency in the South of France, a defining moment occurred within Robin’s life when he was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Intent on finding a way to manage his condition, Robin discovered through his passion of food and changes in diet a new culinary direction - the creation of healthy dishes to maintain his well being.

A new venture was born, and Robin began producing delicious recipes aimed at those who have diabetes, or wish to lower their risk of developing it. Needless to say, his dishes can be enjoyed by everyone!

Now onto his third cookbook, Robin has further expanded his food writing with a very popular online blog and hosts a cookery school at his home in France to inspire others.

A night to savour

Included within the evening’s ticket is an exclusive three-course meal in the Belvedere Restaurant, with a selection of dishes prepared from Robin’s recipes.

Robin’s craftsmanship will then be on display as he takes to stage to prepare some of his recipes and demonstrate that cooking healthy food can be simple and not overly time consuming.

Conducting proceedings, BBC’s Robert Hall will be alongside Robin reflecting on the actor’s wide-ranging career. Retold and depicted with the help of video clips and photographs, Robin will be discussing his thoughts on the original and current series of Poldark, as well as his time at the Royal Shakespeare Company and notable roles within shows such as Fawlty Towers and Wallander.
