Travel Updates

Updated 13 January 2022

The Government of Jersey is regularly updating the guidance for everyone travelling to Jersey:

All arrivals

All passengers aged 11 and over arriving in Jersey who have travelled outside the Common Travel Area (CTA) in the 10 days before arriving in Jersey, will be required to isolate until they receive a negative PCR test result, regardless of their vaccination status. This measure aligns with the UK’s requirements for arrivals from outside the CTA. It is recommended that they also undertake lateral flow tests daily for 10 days after arrival.

Jersey falls within the UK’s Common Travel Area, along with the rest of the Channel Islands, Ireland and the Isle of Man. This means that there is no need for UK visitors to test before returning to the UK or isolate on return to the UK.

All visitors

All visitors to Jersey age 11+ must complete a simple pre departure registration form within the 48 hours prior to their arrival in Jersey.

Fully vaccinated* visitor?

  • There is no requirement to take a PCR test on arrival or undertake any isolation if travelling from within the CTA.

Not fully vaccinated?

  • You will receive a FREE PCR test on arrival (day 0).
  • You only need to isolate until you receive a negative result from your day 0 test, with results expected within 12 hours on average.
  • You can provide a negative Covid-19 PCR test result taken within 72 hours prior to your arrival, which means you won't need to be tested on arrival and you won’t have to isolate.

Recently had Covid-19?

Under the Safer Travel Policy, passengers who declare and can evidence testing positive in the preceding 28 days before arrival will not be required to have a PCR test on arrival and isolate until result. The policy remains that passengers who have tested positive in the preceding 10 days, or have COVID-19 symptoms, must not travel to Jersey.

If an individual develops new symptoms of COVID-19 after recovering from a previous infection, they must isolate and arrange a PCR test. Any subsequent positive test result following new symptoms will be treated as a new infection.

Very high-risk countries.

Enhanced testing and isolation will be in place for the very small number of passengers who have visited very high-risk countries (those subject to the UK travel ban) in the 10 days prior to arrival, regardless of vaccination status.

Testing pre-arrival.

Visitors to Jersey can opt to provide evidence of a pre-departure negative Covid-19 test, replacing the need for a Day 0 test and isolation for those who are not fully vaccinated.

If you do not want to be tested.

Passengers who do not take part in the testing programme must isolate for 10 days.

  • Children aged 10 and under do not need to complete a pre-registration form and will not be tested on arrival or be required to isolate.
  • Children aged 11-17 are required to complete a pre-departure travel form. If they are fully vaccinated, then no test or isolation period is required. If they aren’t fully vaccinated then they will need to undertake a free PCR test upon arrival (day 0), and will need to isolate until they receive a negative test result (usually within 12 hours). Please click here for details on fully vaccinated travellers.
