The Seymour Group was founded by the current Managing Director's grandfather in 1919, and this family involvement is reflected in all aspects of our business - from the hospitality we show our guests, to the way we treat our staff. What we look for
The most important thing is that you should be motivated to work in the hotel and catering industry, with a genuine desire to provide top quality customer service. You must be keen to learn new skills and to develop yourself. You must be able to work alongside others as part of a team and be able to cope with a busy work environment.
Some jobs require previous skills or experience, but we also have lots of opportunities for people just starting out. Above all, we look for people who are able to uphold our key values of genuine hospitality and consistent professionalism.
Training and development
Thorough induction training, helping you to settle into your role and feel part of the team, will be backed up with job skills training and development, as well as customer care and health and safety training. Supervisory training is high on our agenda, and we are also keen to support relevant professional training.
Students & school leavers
We are keen to design individual training programmes to meet the needs of Diploma and Degree students on Industrial Placement. The ideal placement length is between 6 and 12 months and we offer the chance to gain experience in kitchens, restaurants, bars, housekeeping and front of house.
We are always delighted to give Jersey students the chance to experience our industry first hand through work tasters, open days, work shadowing, work experience, careers talks at school, holiday work etc.
Many of our staff live in purpose built accommodation. Generally this is in a shared room with washing facilities, although occasionally we are able to offer single accommodation. Staff who live in are provided with all meals, whilst others have meals provided whilst on duty.
