Meet our Deputy General Manager, Blake Albert

15 Aug 2017

Born and raised in South Africa, Blake studied hotel management at the University of Johannesburg before putting his new-found knowledge to work in a career that has seen him serving guests in world-class hotels on two continents.

A true hospitality professional

We were delighted when Blake chose to join us at the Pomme d'Or. His hands on experience of managing luxury hotels like St Michael's Hotel and Spa in Cornwall and the Windsor Hotel in Hermanus, South Africa make him the ideal Deputy General Manager for the Pomme d'Or.

Although he's certainly a highly experienced hotelier, Blake's understanding of tourism runs much deeper than hotels. For three years whilst working in Hermanus, he dedicated an enormous amount of time to helping to develop the town's entire tourism offering, including the development of an arts and culture strategy.

It's the people who make the difference

In his work, it's Blake's warmth towards everyone he meets that sets him apart. He's a great team leader who works with his staff to ensure they have all they need to perform to the highest standards. He loves motivating people and whether you're a guest or a colleague, Blake is always looking for a way to make your day that much better!

Having worked in Jersey for a year, Blake has got to know the island pretty well. He's particularly impressed by St Helier, which he believes has an impressive range of shops and restaurants for a relatively small town. It is, however, the friendliness of Jersey's residents that has impressed him the most.

When Blake's not enjoying the fine food and bustling street life in St Helier, he enjoys touring the island and discovering the many hidden secrets that it has to offer. To date, his favourite place is Corbiere with its windswept and sea-splashed lighthouse, but Blake knows that there's much more to discover and is looking forward to all the exploration that lies ahead!
