'Super Seymour' marathon team wins Hospitality Cup!

04 October 2017

The Standard Chartered Jersey Marathon has become one of the island's most eagerly anticipated sporting events, with hundreds of islanders taking part by either running the full distance or as part of a marathon relay team.

A great team effort

At the Seymour Group, we're always up for a challenge - a claim that was proven by our intrepid team of five who entered the marathon relay.

Every minute of training paid off, as the 'Super Seymour' team ran their way to first place in the Hospitality Cup with a very impressive time of 3 hours 14 minutes!

As a company, we'd like to both thank and congratulate the team on their amazing efforts. Daria, Cedric, Piers, Matt and Stef did brilliantly to finish in 10th place overall, and to claim the win for Seymour Hotels ahead of our running rivals in the hospitality sector.

An International Affair

This year's Jersey marathon attracted more international runners than ever before. In the individual competition, Kenyan athlete Hillary Chirchir took first place ahead of two of his compatriots, whilst German runner Ulrike Maisch won the women's competition.

The marathon is an incredible community event, and everyone at Seymour Hotels would like to thank the 350+ volunteers who gave up their time to make the Standard Chartered Jersey Marathon 2017 a safe, friendly and successful event.

Our thanks go to the Honorary Police, Course Marshals, Water Stations, Relay Stations, Start and Finish Team, Race Referees, Timing Team, Motor Cycle Escorts, Control Centre Team, St John Ambulance and Medical Team, Masseurs, Time Car Team and all the other people who gave up their time to help make the marathon such a wonderful event.
