Entertainment programme 2008

Saturday   A non-stop cavalcade of hits from the 60’s presented by Simon Raverne and the Star Band in their ’Tribute to the Legends’ show. Listen or dance to golden oldies from the likes of Elvis, Buddy Holly, Jerry Lee Lewis, Roy Orbison and many more. Dance the night away to these timeless sounds. Sunday The wonderful band, ’Big Issue’, perform a selection of popular hits – old and new - for dancing.

You can sit back and enjoy their music or if you are feeling more energetic, hit the dance floor and boogie the night away.

Monday

’Meet the Island’ – each week Pete Webb, our Leisure Co-ordinator introduces you to a selection of the island’s visitor attractions including La Mare Vineyards, Durell’s Zoo, The Jersey War Tunnels and The Amaizin’ Maze.

Followed by

’Tribute to the Country Greats’ – Simon Raverne and Sadie Rennard, together with The Star Band and Starlets present a show featuring many of the all-time great country hits including hits from Johnny Cash, Kenny Rogers, Jim Reeves and many more.

Tuesday

It’s family night with a special ’Mardi Gras’ carnival show involving the children. This is followed by Damien James who presents his Magic and Comedy show – a real hit with all the family.

Wednesday

The West End comes to The Merton Hotel as we present a ’Tribute to the Musicals’. This wonderful show devised and presented by some of Jersey’s best known vocal stars will include hits from the greatest musicals of all time including Phantom, Mary Poppins, Showboat, Anything Goes. A spectacular show and not to be missed.

Following this the terrific entertainer, Paul Wagner presents a unique music and entertainment show.

Thursday

It’s a big night tonight in The Star Room. The children present their own ’Cirque du Lumiere’ show which they have been preparing in the Kid’s Zone and featuring clowns, jugglers under the big top!

This is followed by our hugely popular ABBA tribute band – Abbaloo. Back by popular demand and playing all the top hits from Sweden’s most famous export. So, you can put on your platform boots and sparkly tops and sing-a-long to ’Supertrooper’, ’Mamma Mia’ and many more.

Friday

Kicking off the evening, vocalist Barry Taylor will present some of the great ballads of the 60’s and 70’s. Then Simon Raverne, supported by the Star Band, presents his fantastic ’Hey Rock ’n’ Roll’ show. You can jive along to the great hits of the 50’s and 60’s or sit back and enjoy the fantastic sounds.

Shows start from approximately 8.30pm each evening. For full details please see the hotel notice board. We respectfully request that children are not allowed onto the dance floor unaccompanied by an adult after 10pm.
