Listed below you will find short descriptions of many of the possible job opportunities available within the Seymour Group. Recruitment for seasonal positions usually takes place between January and March each year, but opportunities for seasonal, and of course, permanent staff do occur throughout the year.

Bartender
You should have previous hotel bar experience, preferably to have included cocktail and/or table service. A willing and cheerful manner is needed as the job holder will need to work as a team member and will come into constant contact with guests - Customer orientated attitude essential. Good level of spoken English required.

Chef de Partie

You must be fully qualified to Chef de Partie level, with good standard (3 star +) hotels/restaurants. Some formal chef training (eg. equivalent to UK City and Guilds 760.1/2 or NVQ 2/3) together with appropriate food hygiene qualifications (eg. equivalent to UK Basic Food Hygiene Certificate) will be of value.

Some supervision and training experience would be useful as you may be assisting with the development of more junior chefs. A willing and cheerful manner is needed as you will need to work as a team member, in an often busy and stressful environment. A Customer oriented attitude essential as many of our chefs have guest contact at Carvery/Buffet tables.


Commis/Demi Chef
You will assist the Chef de Partie in the smooth running of your section and help out in other areas of the kitchen as required. Some formal chef’s training would be of value, together with a recognised certificate of food safety and hygiene. Support to continue formal training may be available. A willing and cheerful manner is needed in an often busy and stressful environment. A customer oriented attitude is essential as many of our chef’s have guest contact at buffet tables.

Conference and Hall Porter
Previous portering experience would be an advantage. Most of all however you need to be flexible, prepared to lend a hand to all sorts of tasks, enjoy working with customers and able to cope with a fair amount of lifting. Duties include assisting with guest luggage, providing guest information and setting up for functions and conferences.

Crèche Assistants
To care for under 3’s with the guidance of our crèche leader. NNEB or similar qualifications are an advantage; previous work with children and impeccable references are essential. You would be helping to create holiday’s full of happy memories for young guests. This position may be combined with other duties within the hotel so a general interest in catering will be of value.

Floor Housekeeper
You will be responsible for checking floor sections. Your role will be to provide assistance to the Head Housekeeper with welfare and discipline of staff in housekeeping, delegate and maintain the best standards of service, with training and supervision of room attendants, cleaners and house porters in allocated sections. The ideal candidate will be a team leader, with previous experience and lots of motivation and initiative.

Head Receptionist
Previous experience in a senior front of house role is essential for this position where you will be required to lead a team of receptionists offering exceptional levels of service to our broad range of customers and guests. Team work, strong communication and supervisory skills together with good organisational and IT skills are also required.

Kitchen Porter
Your main role will be to maintain a high standard of cleanliness, hygiene and safety in the kitchen and to assist the chefs generally. You must be willing to learn, take a pride in your personal presentation and have a cheerful manner, as you will be required to work well as part of the kitchen brigade. Previous experience is not essential, as full training will be given. Physical fitness is essential as this role can involve a lot of lifting and carrying.

Lifeguards
To work in the Merton Hotel Aquadome and Leisure Club. Preferred qualifications should include a current NPLGQ edition 6 and First Aid Certificate. Desirable Swimming Teacher Certificate and Plant Room Operations Certificate.

Linen Keeper
You will be responsible for the control of all linen and soft furnishings and will provide general assistance in the Housekeeping department - including when necessary the cleaning and preparation of guest facilities. You will need good organisation skills, literacy and spoken English language skills as this role may involve dealing with guests. Previous experience and training in a similar role ie within hotel housekeeping environment would be of value.

Receptionist
A genuine people oriented attitude with preferably 1 or 2 years previous hotel reception experience. Computer and keyboard skills are necessary although specific training will be given in our hotel system (Visual One). A willing and cheerful manner is needed as the job holder will need to work as a team member in an often busy and stressful environment. You must have excellent English skills - both spoken and written, and the ability to speak French or German would be a distinct advantage.

Receptionist Shift Leader
The Reception Shift Leader provides support to the Head Receptionist. You must already have considerable reception experience and be ready for a supervisory position. A strong customer focus, the ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure and good teamwork skills are needed for this role.

Room Attendant
You will be responsible for daily cleaning, bedmaking and servicing of allocated rooms and corridors, as well as for other duties as directed by the supervisory housekeeping staff. You must like, and take a pride in, cleaning and housework. Full training will be provided to assist you to meet hotel standards and to understand cleaning procedures, use of cleaning materials and equipment etc. A willing and cheerful manner is essential as you will need to work as a team member and will come into regular contact with guests. Physical fitness is essential as is the requirement for absolute personal discretion,honesty and trustworthiness.

Waiter/Waitress

You will be required to provide service and assistance to guests and will be responsible for restaurant set up, greeting guests, providing menu guidance and clearing tables etc. We have a variety of restaurants including buffet/carvery style, informal bistro, café bar style and more formal a la carte.

A willing and cheerful manner is essential as you will need to work as a team member and will come into constant contact with guests - Customer orientated attitude essential. A good level of spoken English is required, together with previous waiting experience.
